Giving a bike & Give Back This Christmas.
Copper Trails Bike Hire Partners with Point Pearce Aboriginal Corporation for a Heart-warming Christmas Initiative in 2025
Moonta, October 3, 2025
As the holiday season approaches, Copper Trails Bike Hire (CTBH) is proud to renew its Christmas Bike Giveaway Program in 2025, to give back to the local community.
Over the past 2 years, CTBH has successfully donated over 100 refurbished bikes to those in need. This year, we are committed to continuing this impactful campaign, with the Point Pearce Aboriginal Corporation. Not only in donation refurbished pre-loved bikes, but also with providing workshops and training to build skills in the community to look after their bikes. We therefore invite the generous hearts of our community to contribute by donating good-quality bicycles.
Call for Action 1: Donate Good Quality Bikes
From now until November 30, 2025, we encourage the local community to donate their pre-loved bicycles. These bikes are to be in good condition and dropped off at our Copper Trails Bike Hire location in Moonta during opening hours. Please do not leave bikes at the door, as we need to assess their suitability for refurbishment. Your unused bike can bring joy and mobility to someone in need this Christmas.
Anne and Colin Minion, owners of Copper Trails Bike Hire, share their commitment to this cause: "We believe in the power of community. By donating your unused bicycles, you can directly contribute to brightening someone's holiday season and making a positive change in our community."
Addressing Local Challenges
For many families across the Yorke Peninsula—and particularly in and around Point Pearce—access to safe, affordable transport can be a real barrier to school attendance, work, sport, and community participation. A refurbished bicycle is more than a gift at Christmas; it’s a practical tool that supports health, independence, and connection. Through this partnership, Copper Trails Bike Hire and the Point Pearce Aboriginal Corporation (PPAC) will prioritise donations for children and young people, single-car or no-car households, and Elders who would benefit from low-cost mobility.
In addition to bike refurbishment, PPAC and CTBH will coordinate hands-on workshops covering bike safety checks, basic repairs (tyres, chains, brakes), helmet fitting, and road awareness. These sessions are designed to build confidence and skills so that recipients can keep their bikes in good working order throughout the year.
On Narungga Country, we want our children and families to feel proud, active and connected. This initiative helps remove everyday barriers, supports wellbeing, and brings our communities together around something positive and practical.
Donation notes: please donate bikes that are structurally sound (no major frame damage). If you’re unsure, bring the bike in during opening hours for an assessment. If you wish to contribute parts (tubes, chains, brake pads) or volunteer at a workshop, please contact Anne or Colin (details below).
Making an Impact Beyond the Holidays
While this campaign is focused on helping the community during the holiday season, it also aligns with our commitment to environmental sustainability. By refurbishing and reusing old bikes, we not only reduce waste but also promote eco-friendly transportation. Anne and Colin expressed their optimism, saying, "By coming together as a community, we can create a ripple effect of goodwill that extends far beyond this Christmas. Let's make this holiday season a time of joy, compassion, and unity."

Please do not leave them at the door, as we will not be responsible for any bikes that are not stored safely in our shop.
