Tourism - a force for good
We are committed in providing tourism services, experiences and spaces that support people and communities to prosper, that protects our unique natural assets, and that inspires positive impacts.
Here are some of the ways we are working with businesses, community and visitors.
-
At the heart of our business is a commitment to accessible tourism - we believe everyone should have the opportunity to explore South Australia's incredible regions, regardless of ability.
We are continually working to make our bike hire services more inclusive and user-friendly, with options suited for a wide range of ages, abilities, and needs. From step-through frames to easy booking and local support, we aim to remove barriers and create welcoming, flexible experiences for all travellers.
We also support the Wallaroo Cycling Without Age - a volunteer led program that provide ride on Trishaws for people with mobility and disability limitations. We provide regular servicing and support for the Wallaroo Community Development Association
By aligning with national best practices and local initiatives, we’re proud to play our part in building a more inclusive tourism industry.

We are proud to offer E-Trikes and Tricycles for sale, specially designed for those who may have mobility challenges or are living with a disability. These bikes provide freedom, stability, and independence — allowing riders of all abilities to enjoy themselves.
Whether you're new to riding or just need extra support, we offer:
Individual sales and service.
Personalised assistance and training in operation.
Drop off and pickup options.
Friendly, inclusive service from staff who genuinely care
We believe everyone deserves to feel the wind in their hair — and we’re here to make that happen.
-
Our commitment to sustainability is not just a promise — it's part of our everyday practice. We take practical steps to reduce waste, minimise impact, and support a healthier environment.
Here’s what we’re doing:
Cardboard Recycling: Delivery and packaging boxes from our bikes, accessories, and wholesale orders are broken down and recycled weekly through council systems.
Offer delivery of cardboard for gardening groups and individuals to reduce weeds.
Repair Over Replace: We prioritise repairing bikes and parts rather than discarding them — including donating or repurposing parts where possible.
Minimal Waste Retailing: We only stock what we know we can use or sell, limiting excess inventory and packaging.
Digital-First Systems: We encourage online bookings, use electronic receipts, and avoid unnecessary printing.
-
Being sustainable also means being socially responsible. We’re proud to support:
Youth development through our Kopper Kids Maintenance Workshops and Bike Riding Training.
Volunteering programs in partnership with the Moonta Men’s Shed and community charities.
Regional employment and skills development through casual and seasonal staff roles.
Supporting Charity riders and inclusive tourism programs that make cycling possible for everyone.
We also reinvest into local suppliers, support tourism development across the Copper Coast and Yorke Peninsula, including advocating for safer accessible infrastructure and trails in our region.

At Copper Trails Bike Hire, we believe small wheels can lead to big change. As a proudly regional, values-driven business, we’re committed to doing more than just helping people explore the Copper Coast — we’re here to protect it, too.
That’s why we’ve joined the Tourism Emissions Reduction (TER) Program, a national initiative helping tourism operators identify and reduce their carbon emissions. Through this program, we’re working step by step to better understand our environmental impact and take meaningful action toward net zero.
We’ve already taken positive steps — including encouraging low-emission travel through e-bike hire, recycling all our cardboard packaging, and supporting community reuse through our bike donation programs. But now, we’re going further.
Over the coming months, we’ll be:
Measuring our carbon footprint across energy, transport, and materials
Reviewing business practices to improve efficiency and reduce emissions
Setting goals for emissions reduction and sharing our progress publicly
Supporting suppliers and partners who are also committed to sustainability
Involving our team and community in the journey
This page will be regularly updated as we complete key milestones in the TER Program. We’re proud to be part of a regional tourism industry that is leading by example — and we invite our community, customers, and partners to join us on this road to a more sustainable future.
Every bike we hire is a step toward cleaner air, a healthier planet, and a stronger local economy. Thanks for riding with us — together, we’re making a difference.
